2 down at Stoke & we get a draw! Whats the fuck's happened..

Like most of us I remember many, many occasions when we'd be 1 or 2 down in a shithole like Stoke and we'd throw the towel in and end up well beaten.
2 down yesterday and we kept at them, ending up with a cracking away draw.
Yes, they missed some sitters toward the end but that's football, the point is we dragged ourselves back in and got a result whereas in days gone by we were fucked.
I'm not saying this is the 'new West Ham' yet, far too early to make that statement, but fuck me, what an improvement so far.
BFS - still think he's a cunt because of all the crap before this season + I think Sheringham is a big part of this team, but I only care about the club and our results.
So if BFS has had something imposed on him to get us playing like this - carry on you fat bastard and COYFI's!!

To be fair mate many in the boozer I watched agreed that as Sakho was injured then it was a good place to go with five across the midfield.
He did have to tinker as Sakho was injured so not sure why you say he didn't have to. I thought at the time he did the right thing and tightened up the middle.
But, at half time, we all said it ain't working go back to 4-4-2 and put Cole on. Which he did. And it worked. So no issue from me and many others as we all would've done the same.
Hindsight is wonderful thing.

Do you actually think that Carlton Cole could have run and harried from wing and therefore protect the flanks as Sakho had done, for a full game?
That is where we got done for 60 minutes.
He saw that and changed something, as none of midfielders wanted to play wide.
Stoke played very well but tired and we have the firepower to take advantage of that now.
But if you think we can keep winning games playing the exact same system, even without injuries, you don't watch much football.
I am glad he tried something different, it didn't work with the personal we had, so I am even more glad that he made changes early.

Part of me wants to be really pissed off that he changed it when there was no need to - but I'm feeling chipper, and it was a HUGE plus that he changed back second half. Can't help feeling that he wouldn't have done that last season, so as much as anything the change has come from the man himself.

Well that worked fucking brilliantly didnt it at 2-0 down he changed it back and put Cole up with Valencia, 2-2.
The fat cunt just has to tinker when there was no fucking need to

Mistake 1 was changing the shape of the team, VOLLEY
Yes well obviously the manager did not have faith in the players at his disposal to come in and do the same job as Sakho hence he changed the shape.

but on reflection, I think that's wrong as well, as Newcastle got less than us.
Anyway...point remains, we were shit at it last season, but we've done it before and we'll do it again

Eggbert - Maybe in the Prem. But the last time we came from 2 down was against Birmingham in the Championship season in 2012, 3-1 down ended 3-3.
Also came back from 2-0 down away to Burnley to make it 2-2 that season as well from memory.

That's the one that the commentators Norf mentioned referred to.

Norf - not saying it is (last season we won precisely ZERO points from losing positions), but in the grand scheme of things to those who've supported the club for a while, it's not that new.
If we're using it to illustrate how shit we were last season and how much we've improved, then great - but all I keep reading is how we'd always have rolled over in the past. It's rubbish. Unless 'the past' consists of one season
